studio wehl in a nutshell

Wessel Helmsing is a dutch furniture maker, designer and artist.

From early on I was passionate about creating, putting something from myself out in a physical form. There to last.

It started for me with drawing, first with a pencil, but rapidly I started experimenting with different media’s and technic. To me I was interesting how they all behaved differently and gave a different outcome on the canvas. That eager to discover and experiment was also part of the artwork for me.

Recently I graduated from Hout- en Meubileringscollege Amsterdam. The same thing I did with drawing, I also applied here. I pushed myself to design and make furniture with different materials, in the progress experimenting with different machines and crafts.

With studio WEHL (WEssel HeLmsing) my mission is to play with material and innovate to make sustainable art and products. In the progress combining the skills as an artist and furniture to make unique and interesting work.
